Accessibility

This is a general accessibility list of what is available at The Cutlery Drawer events. This is not an exhaustive list of all that is possible in terms of access .

  • Captions during call and with any videos shown.
  • Transcript available on call & after call for Book Club
  • Communicate however it feels right for you: can have camera on/off, use text chat only or voice chat, use AAC, etc. All ways of communicating are welcome!
  • For AAC users: we can accommodate you at the start of the call if it is helpful to have time to respond during call. We can also enable screen sharing to allow us to follow as you type so we don’t speak over you.
  • Come as you are! Use whatever you need to make yourself comfortable during the call. Wear your heating pad, ice packs, migraine shades, splints! No matter how you show up we welcome you to the space.
  • Any images shared will be described (if you need help with alt text ask the facilitator).
  • Please keep your camera steady when on video to reduce motion sensitivty.
  • Any time there will be strobe or flashing lights it will be announced in the event poster and during the event.

Due to the nature of virtual events being attended by many different language speakers we do not regularly have a sign-language interpreter, but if given enough notice in advance we can try see if we can work something out.

If there’s anything else we can do for making these spaces accessible feel free to contact us.
